Throughout high school, I balanced competing at the state level in triathlon, with grade cricket for Western Suburbs and Sydney Cricket Club in the summer and Rugby Union at a colts and reserve grade level for Drummoyne Dirty Reds throughout winter.
Due to my Rugby and cricket influence, I was heavily involved in fitness. I started off doing basic bodybuilding stuff after work with friends who I played rugby with. However, this quickly developed into a serious passion for me which is where I saw my introduction to Strength and conditioning.
In 2011 I was introduced to Crossfit in Sydney, with my first box being Play Crossfit. From there my passion and desire for training were amplified and my desire to learn the weightlifting movements was sparked.
2015 brought about a full-time application of myself to weightlifting and training to compete while using CrossFit style workouts as my conditioning.
I am now on the cusp of qualifying for the National level competition in weightlifting.
Don’t feel the need to justify your actions to anyone, but have the knowledge and ability to justify it when asked. Because if you don’t know why you are doing something, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
Hobbies & Things you didn’t know about Lachie:
I have a peanut butter addiction (self-diagnosed)
I’ve been called a coffee snob by some. I just really like good coffee.
Training, using my fitness and being generally active tends to be my downtime.
I am a bit of a car nut as well, in particular, the forced induction kind.
